Deleting your account
How to delete your Uptimeify account, what happens to your data, and what applies if you are the last administrator of an organization.
You can delete your Uptimeify account yourself. This page describes both ways to ask for it and what happens afterwards.
In the app
The Uptimeify On-Call app (iOS and Android) can start the deletion directly:
Settings → Account → Delete account.
You confirm by typing the word shown on the screen. If two-step verification is active on your account, you also enter a current code. The account is then scheduled for deletion.
By email
If you cannot reach the app, write to hello@uptimeify.io from the address the account is registered under. We will verify the request and schedule the same deletion.
What happens then
The deletion is not carried out at once. It is scheduled for 30 days after the request, and until that date you can withdraw it, in the app on the same screen, or by email.
The reason for the delay is what this account is for: Uptimeify is an on-call tool. It is operated at three in the morning by people who were just woken up, and a mistaken tap must not permanently remove somebody from every on-call schedule.
Once the deadline passes, the following is deleted along with your user account:
- your login, your sessions and your two-step verification
- your team memberships and your on-call schedule assignments
- your registered push devices and your personal notification settings
- your personal notification rules
Your organization is not deleted. Data that belongs to the organization rather than to you (monitors, incidents, status pages, invoices) stays with it.
Your organization's administrators are notified
When you request the deletion, the administrators of your organization receive an email. This is part of carrying the deletion out, not a courtesy: the people who can backfill an on-call rotation you leave open are the administrators, and otherwise they find out at the moment an alert reaches nobody. The email names the schedules you stand in, how many shifts would go unstaffed, and the teams in which you are the only member.
If you withdraw the request, they are told that too.
If you are the last administrator
An account that is the last active administrator of an organization cannot be deleted on its own. Doing so would leave an organization behind with nobody able to reach it, while its monitors keep running and its billing keeps running.
Two ways out, and both work:
- Appoint a second administrator: in the dashboard under Users
(
/dashboard/clients/users). Your own deletion then follows the normal path described above. - Cancel the organization: in the dashboard under Settings → Billing. The organization is then deleted together with the accounts belonging to it, following the retention periods described in our privacy policy.
What we keep, and for how long
Invoicing and accounting data is kept for the statutory retention periods, generally ten years, and is blocked from any other use in the meantime. Consent records are kept for as long as we have to be able to demonstrate the consent. The full table is in the privacy policy.
